About the song – All star lyrics

“All Starr” is a tune by the American musical gang Smash Mouth from their second studio collection, Astro Lounge (1999). Composed by Greg Camp & delivered by Eric Valentine, the melody was delivered on May 4, 1999, as the principal single from Astro Lounge. The tune was one of the last tracks to be composed for Astro Lounge, after the b&’s record name Interscope mentioned for additional melodies that could be delivered as singles.

Recorded as a hard copy it, Camp drew melodic impact from contemporary music by craftsmen like Sugar Ray & Third Eye Blind, & searched out to make an “hymn” for untouchables. As opposed to the more ska-punk style of Smash Mouth’s presentation collection Fush Yu Mang (1997), the tune includes a more radio-accommodating style.

All star lyrics

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger & her thumb
In the shape of an “L” on her forehead

Well the years start coming & they don’t stop coming
Fed to the rules & I hit the ground running
Didn’t make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do, so much to see
So what’s wrong with taking the back streets?
You’ll never know if you don’t go
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow

Hey now, u’r an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, u’r a rock star, get the show on, get paid
& all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

All star lyrics
All star lyrics

It’s a cool place & they say it gets colder
u’r bundled up now, wait till you get older
But the meteor men beg to differ
Judging by the hole in the satellite picture
The ice we skate is getting pretty thin
The water’s getting warm so you might as well swim
My world’s on fire, how about yours?
That’s the way I like it & I never get bored

Hey now, u’r an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, u’r a rock star, get the show on, get paid
All that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

Hey now, u’r an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, u’r a rock star, get the show, on get paid
& all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars

Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas?
I need to get myself away from this place
I said yep what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself
& we could all use a little change

Well, the years start coming & they don’t stop coming
Fed to the rules & I hit the ground running
Didn’t make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do, so much to see
So what’s wrong with taking the back streets?
You’ll never know if you don’t go (go!)
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow

Hey now, u’r an all-star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, u’r a rock star, get the show on, get paid
& all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

& all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
